Welcome to Cornwall Dyslexia Association
CDA Dyslexia Advice Day in Ottakars Truro 2006
The CDA offers help and advice to anyone affected by Dyslexia in Cornwall. Featuring the latest web design innovations, the site is easily accessed by people with varying degrees of dyslexia as the font, text size and background colour can be changed at the click of a button.
For parents of children affected by dyslexia the website offers a wealth of useful advice and information including details of workshop and training opportunities to help parents gain confidence in techniques and strategies to support their child.
One section of the site is specifically dedicated to kids with dyslexia offering encouragement, support and the chance to publish their writing on the site.
Adults can access help through the site too, with support information, a dedicated helpline and workshop opportunities.
The nature of Dyslexia is that it tends to exclude people affected by it from full participation and engagement in what is often a text-based society. The spectrum of symptoms remains largely unrecognised and misunderstood which can leave dyslexic people feeling isolated, frustrated and suffering from low self esteem.
Breaking down the barriers which create these negative effects, uniting dyslexics to support each other and facilitating access to practical help is what the Cornwall Dyslexia Association is about. The Association is passionate about its work and is open to contact from anyone, of any age, who is looking for advice and support in relation to Dyslexia. This includes people who feel they may have Dyslexia but have never been tested or diagnosed.
The range of help, for adults and children, is ever increasing as understanding of Dyslexia improves. Cornwall Dyslexia Association is a member of the British Dyslexia Association and so is fully up to date with the latest thinking about the condition. Indeed, the CDA's website was recently singled out for praise by the BDA who congratulated them on "creating a great dyslexia friendly website" with "plenty of helpful information for all".
