We are a chartered accountants firm based in Truro, Cornwall. We occupy modern offices close to Truro city centre, and have undertaken an extensive programme of investment in computer hardware and accounting, audit and taxation software. We provide audit, corporate tax and other services to a number of the largest groups, companies and enterprises in Cornwall, and have continued to gain new clients in these categories over recent years. Whilst we believe that the firm deals with more businesses with turnover in excess of £1 million than any other firm of accountants in Cornwall, we also advise businesses with smaller turnover. We provide accountancy and other services to our unincorporated clients whose turnover range from £15,000 to £30,000,000.

Accounts
We prepare accounts for businesses of all sizes. However whilst we can do this directly from prime business records using specialist computer software we aim to encourage businesses to improve their bookkeeping to reduce the cost of our own involvement and enhance their understanding of their financial results.

Audit
We view the process of preparing the annual report and financial statements of a company not just as fulfilling our clients' statutory obligations but also as a means to provide sound practical advice on planning and strategy to management thus helping Cornish businesses run more efficiently and profitably.

Taxation
We undertake both corporate and personal tax and develop creative solutions to tax planning that will save money. We can assist in complying with tax regulations, completing the necessary returns and making the relevant claims.

We undertake work in connection with Inland Revenue, Contributions Agency and Customs and Excise tax investigations. We can advise on capital and income taxes, national insurance contributions, inheritance tax, value added tax and Customs planning.

We aim to give proactive tax advice to save clients money.

Corporate Finance
Companies wishing to start up, expand, merge or divest, or executives wishing to put together a management buy out need finance. Our services include: introductions to financiers, preparation of business plans, grant applications, investigations, compliance and due diligence.

Forensic Accounting
We quantify losses arising from accidents or commercial and matrimonial disputes. We also investigate fraud. Paul Reed and Terry Knight have both acted as expert witnesses in court. Terry is a Law Society accredited expert witness.

Management Accounts
We believe the key to a successful business is to have up to date financial information at your fingertips. We provide a monthly management accounts service which can range from a monthly profit and loss account for an organisation to a detailed analysis of cost centre activities.

VAT return preparation can also be undertaken whether management accounts are prepared or not.

Payroll
We undertake payroll bureau services for our clients which can be weekly or monthly or a combination of weekly employees and monthly salaries. This enables the client to free up administrative procedures and also ensures the procedures are technically up to date. Year end forms such as P35 and P11D can also be undertaken.

Software
We have staff who are experienced in dealing with choice of accounting software and training clients' staff to operate the chosen package. Training can be given for Sage, Pegasus, Quickbooks, Viztopia and Winforecast products.

Client care and the maintenance of good communications form a fundamental part of the philosophy by which we operate. We regularly hold breakfast briefings, budget updates and other seminars to keep our clients and other business contacts in touch with audit, taxation and other developments as they arise.
