St Ives was named "seaside Town of the Year at the end of 2007 and it is certainly a very popular place with artists, surfers and families. Taking our hotel-style accommodation at Carbis Bay, St Ives means that you are just outside of the main bustle of the town but a short walk, bus journey or hop along the railway line gets you right into the town.

Here you will find art galleries, including the Tate St Ives, Leach pottery and Barbara Hepworth Museum. Porthmeor beach is a popular surfing beach with lifeguard patrols and a surf school. Boat trips for sight seeing and fishing can be taken from St Ives harbour . There are plenty of great places to eat in the town from restaurants to pubs to cafes.

From Carbis Bay you can easily travel north to Newquay, South and southwest to Lands End and The Lizard, across to Falmouth and the south coast or "inland" to Helston, Truro and the Eden Project.

For a particularly memorable evening you can watch a performance at the stunning Minack open air theatre with the Atlantic Ocean providing a unique backdrop to the performance.
